Rubino

A retail refresh. Rubino is a family-owned footwear retailer from Quebec with more than 35 years of experience. The store has long been a spot where customers find the brands they love. When Rubino decided to open new locations, they wanted a new in-store look that would attract younger shoppers while maintaining the trust they had built over the years. To achieve this, they introduced a large-scale wall illustration system to give each Rubino store a modern, lively atmosphere.

The ask.

As Rubino prepared to open new stores, the brand wanted a fresh look to appeal to younger shoppers. However, each location had its own layout and unique challenges, like awkward angles, exposed ductwork, and complex walls, which made a single, fixed design impossible. The artwork had to look modern and lively, but also be flexible enough to fit any space and keep its impact and consistency from store to store.

The strategy.

The solution was a repeatable pattern with a torn, layered look. This flexible illustration system was designed to balance form and function. The torn style gave the artwork a youthful, modern edge that appealed to the younger audience Rubino wanted to reach. The repeatable structure allowed it to fit around ductwork, work with tricky angles, and stretch across irregular walls in any store. The result is a scalable visual language that feels intentional wherever it appears, giving Rubino a modern in-store identity that is both practical and fresh.
